Receives support for call to boycott CSRE 2022 personal interviews
DIMAPUR, APRIL 17 (MExN): Following the call to boycott the Combined Staff Recruitment Exam (CSRE) Personal Interviews scheduled to be held from April 18 to 28, the Naga Students Federation (NSF) today informed that they will organize a peaceful democratic protest at the NSSB office in Kohima from 8:00 am of April 18.
A press release from the NSF directed all federating units and sub-ordinate bodies to depute 50 volunteers each for the same. “The volunteers must report at the venue by 8:00 am sharp for necessary briefings by the officials of NSF. It should be noted that the agitation will be peaceful one and any elements trying to create chaos and confusion at the venue will not be tolerated,” it stated.
Meanwhile several student bodies have come forward in support of the NSF’s demand for reduction of viva-voce component in all categories to 5% of the total marks as against the proposed 12.5 %.
The All Nagaland College Students' Union (ANCSU) appealed to the concerned authority and State Government to “apply a good sense of judgment impartially that benefits the Naga society at large and not bow down to short-sighted irrationality and unethical that overshadowed fair competition and transparency.”
A press release from the ANCSU while celebrating the implementation of NSSB, reiterated its stand on the resolution adopted at the 4th Presidential Council Meeting of the NSF to extend its fullest support towards the federation for any democratic agitation if the state government fails to address the matter on utmost priority.
The union further found that 12.5% marks allocation for a viva-voce personal interview would only invite bias in the Combined Staff Recruitment Examination (CSRE) which indirectly vanquished the very purpose of NSSB.
The Ao Students' Conference (AKM) said that it stands with the decision of NSF in the interest of the aspirants and also extended full cooperation in the event of any kind of democratic agitation. A press release from the AKM said that it seeks “sensible analysis of the demand put forward by the apex student body, NSF.” It further asked all aspirants who have qualified for the Viva-Voice to cooperate with the student bodies.
The Chakhesang Students Union (CSU) said that “for any society to advance socially , politically and economically, there should be an equal representation from four corners with meritocracy ruling out favouritism, nepotism or political influence in matters of employment to public office.”
“Though not undermining the credibility of the NSSB Commission, the standing rules of the commission to allocate 12.5% marks in the interview may invite unfair means to sabotage justice to the deserving candidates,” a press release from the CSU stated.
It said that in the event of the State Government not heeding to NSF’s demand, “the union office will not shy away from attaining its goals through democratic means under the directives of the Naga Students' Federation.”
The Lotha Students' Union (LSU) expressed displeasure over the “irrational attitude and leisurely behaviour of the concerned department that, despite the genuine demand put forth by the federation to uphold the interest of the students and youth community at large, the NSSB has announced the schedule for the personal interview.”
The LSU said it would not remain a mute spectator and reminded the concerned authorities that, it will not hesitate to stand and fight for the rights of the students. The union extended its full support and co-operation to the NSF in the event of any kind of democratic agitation or any course of action in a peaceful democratic manner.
It further appealed to all the aspirant candidates who have qualified for the viva-voce component to refrain from appearing for the said interview.
The Rengma Students’ Union (RSU) also asked its members who will be appearing the Viva-Voce of the Combined Staff Recruitment Examination (CSRE) 2022 to boycott the same.
A press release from the RSU said that it is “appalled at the lackadaisical attitude of the concerned department that despite the genuine demand made by the federation to uphold the interest of the students and youth community, the NSSB has announced the schedule for the Personal Interview of the candidates qualified for Combined Staff Recruitment Examination 2022.”
The RSU added that it would extend full support and co-operation to “whatever course of action that the federation will be undertaking in this noble cause towards ensuring fairness and transparency in the process of selection.”
Meanwhile, the Zeliangrong Students’ Union Nagaland (ZSUN) said that it stands firm on the “genuine demands of the NSF and will go for any means of democratic agitation for boycotting the personal interview.”
A press release from the ZSUN appealed to the successful aspirants to avoid appearing the said interview of NSSB “until the viable means are achieve by the NSF for common interest especially students community who are aspiring for their career by fair means.”
