
DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 16 (MExN): The Naga Students Federation (NSF) cited the State government’s failure to meets its demand of setting up a State Level Independent Enquiry Commission into the misuse of funds meant for the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) programme and decided to stage its 2nd phase of agitation on October 18. In this regard, the NSF informed its Federating Units and Subordinate Bodies to lock down all the DEO & DIS Office in their respective jurisdiction, district headquarters on October 18. Informing of this, the NSF in a press note issued by Ahito Achumi, Secretary Education and Thoshusie Katiry, Assistant General Secretary directed all the Federating Units and Subordinate Bodies to give its report of the development to the NSF at the earliest.
The NSF informed that its Presidential Council meeting was held on October 2 and discussed in detail the issue of SSA and the related position of the NSF vis-à-vis the demand placed to the Government of Nagaland in its representation earlier for setting up of an independent enquiry commission and immediately suspending all the erring officials till the inquiry finishes its work.
“The House regretted that the government had not responded positively and no developments had been initiated to meet the demands of the NSF even after the lapse of three months and the staging of the first phase agitation”, the NSF press note stated while adding that in protest against the apathy of the government and to press initiative for remedial measures the NSF officials resolved to staged its 2nd phase agitation on October 18.
