Kohima,March 26 (MExN): Nagaland Senior Government Employee Welfare Association (NSGEWA) staged a poster campaign against state government by pasting slogans over Assembly secretariat, Secretariat complex and high school junction at Kohima.The NSGEWA’s slogan which reads “New Retirement Act, 2009 is violation of Article 14, 16 and 21 of the constitution of India”, “We condemn the New Retirement Act 2009”, No pension payment, No government”, Thousand of students’ cannot continue their studies, who is responsible, isn’t DAN government?”, “DAN government killer of our children’s’ future”, “Don’t destroy our children’s future”, “Chief secretary, the father of employees who failed to protect the children, employees”, “Release our pension benefits as per rules, do not delay”, “GPF is our hard earned money, why delay, release immediately”, “DAN government, do not politicize government service rules”, is seen all over the mentioned area.
Speaking to “The Morung Express”, Press secretary NSGEWA, Medoselhou Angami said this is all they can do to show their disappointment to the state government as their demands have never been fulfilled. He expressed the grievances of all the retiree’s as there was no absolute payment of pensions and GPF over more than 16 months after retirement.
Expressing anguish against state government for the pending issues, he said under the alleged reason they were not paid for more than 16 months adding “government want to see us dying out of starvation”, adding that many children has been forced to drop their studies. Angami said pushing aside the pension, but even the hard earned GPF has not been released under the pretext of verification, keeping the ex-cheaquer in the bank gaining more interest leaving us empty handed and questioned how they are expected to keep the kitchen open for livelihood?.
It is reported that more than 3800 employees retired following the Retirement Act 2009 in October 2009.
