NSLSA commemorate International Day of the Girl Child across Nagaland 

Kohima, October 13 (MExN): As part of the Pan India Awareness, Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) organised various programmes to commemorate the International Day of the Girl Child under the District Legal Services Authorities (DLSA) on October 11. 

According to an NSLSA release, Longleng DLSA the day with Sakhi-One Stop Centre, Longleng Police Station, Women Police, Phomla Hoichem representative, LLC teacher incharge and president from 11 wards Longleng. 

Project Assistant LDLSA P Monyei Phom spoke on fundamental Rights of the Children under the Constitution with reference to various Articles while Counsellor Sakhi-OSC Longleng briefed on the services provided by the Center in the District. 

Secretary Longleng DLSA Holika Sukhalu CJM (NJS) Longleng apprised the objective provisions and procedures under the POCSO Act. Around 30 participated.

In Dimapur, the DLSA organised a webinar on Juvenile Justice Act, POCSO, 2019 Act and Child Rights in collaboration with Childline Nagaland.

 Boduve P Resu, JMFC Dimapur spoke on POCSO Act and Child Rights while Sonile Seb, Retainer Lawyer, DDLSA spoke on Compensation/ government related schemes.

 Susan Lotha, JJB Member, Dimapur spoke on Understanding statutory support services under the integrated child protection scheme- a centrally sponsored scheme of government and Understanding child in need of care and protection, the rehabilitation and social integration process". The webinar was attended by 44 participants.

The Phek DLSA in collaboration with District Task Force Phek, Police Phek, Sakhi-OSC Phek, DLCW-MSK (BBBP) Phek, CWC committee Phek, PTCSU Phek organised a seminar where Phulushe Yepthomi, ADC Phek, Samuel Ritse, Public Prosecutor Phek briefed on POSCO Act, 2012.

President PTCSU highlighted on gender equality, digital generation and schemes available for children and adolescence girls Vethothi Vero Retainer lawyer imparted on Child Rights. More than 60 students and colony representatives attended the programme.

Tuensang DLSA celebrated the day at Bethel Children Home while the Kiphire DLSA organised a programme in collaboration with District Child Protection Unit, Kiphire at DC Conference Hall, Kiphire. Bentangwati Sangtam, Retainer Lawyer DLSA Kiphire spoke on Child Rights.  All together 24 participated in the event.

In Zunheboto, the  DLSA in collaboration with Sakhi One Stop Center, Zunheboto, conducted a programme with children of Christian Education Department Alahuto,  Sema Baptist Church at PHED ground. Easter H Yepthomi,  Retainer Lawyer, ZDLSA, was the resource person and around 200 person attended the program.

The Kohima DLSA observed a programme with key stakeholders of the Government including Child Welfare Committee, CHILDLINE, Observation Home, Women Police, State Level Social Welfare Department, Distrist Level Centre for Women-MSK, Women Helpline. 

Keynote address was given by Nokshei Kano Secretary,  Mhechiete U Kenye Advocate cum Panel Lawyer spoke on the POCSO Act, 2012 where she highlighted the objective and provisions of the Act, 

Wokha DLSA in collaboration with District Task Force, BBBP, Sakhi One Stop Centre, DLCW-MSK & District Administration organized a programme at SMBHS School Wokha Nagaland. Key note Address by was delivered by I Yentinoungbou Extra Assistant Commissioner, POCSO Act by Panel Lawyer M. Gracy Ezung, Case Presentation by  Thungbeni Kikon,Case Worker Sakhi-OSC. In total about 55 students attended the programme.

Mokokchung DLSA with Child Welfare Committee, Mokokchung and CHILDLINE 1098, Mokokchung organized a programme wherein topics on 'Legal Rights of a Girl Child, scenario of Girl Child in today's society with 30 persons participants. 

The Peren DLSA observed the Day at Jalukie Town with the CWC members, DCPU team and JJB Members. Asungbe Hau spoke on the various Rights of the Child covered under the Juvenile Justice (care and protection) Act 2015 and also highlighted Child rights under various other Laws.

 Italang Ramlia spoke on the silent features of POCSO Act and the various offences and procedures under the Act.
