NSLSA trains teachers-in-charge & LLC members

Kohima, June 24 (MExN): In order to ensure smooth functioning of the Legal Literacy Clubs (LLCs) and to further familiarize the teachers-in-charge and members of the clubs of their duties and activities, Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) with the District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) conducted induction training in all the districts of Nagaland.  

Longleng, Wokha, Mon, Dimapur, Zunheboto and Phek held the training in May, while Kohima, Kiphire, Tuensang, Mokokchung and Peren conducted the same in June.  

The training dealt with effective methods to establish Legal Literacy Clubs/policy and its performance, and also apprised the students about community based engagement and networking, informed a press release from NSLSA.  

Students also shared their experiences as member of the club and the various activities they took part in. The teachers-in-charge and club members were instructed to take attendance at every club meeting and also carry out all activities with the knowledge of the DLSA and to coordinate accordingly.  

The students were encouraged to act and be alert even beyond the confines of the club activities. They were also briefed about various law topics such as domestic violence, child labour, maintenance of senior citizens, dowry, female foeticide, fundamental duties, environment, etc.  

The training further encouraged the members to perform activities in a manner that invokes community spirit and to encourage each other. The club members were also advised to be courteous in their dealings and interaction with the masses so that trust is built. They were reminded on the importance of networking between the DLSAs, stakeholders, and LLCs.  

Altogether, 622 students and 43 teachers-in-charge from 42 schools in all the 11 districts were trained, the release said.
