DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 16 (MExN): Myanmar based Naga Students’ Organization (NSO) has appealed the Myanmar Army and the NSCN (K) to resolve their three week long stand-off in respect to the 2012 ceasefire and peace agreement.
While details on the reported stand-off between the two parties has not been elucidated, a press statement issued by NSO president T Mankhat Konyak on Saturday expressed worry that the ongoing situation would disturb the upcoming Myanmar matriculation examination scheduled to be held in March. It lamented that since the last three decades or more, the education system in its area has been crushed, justice and human rights browbeaten and the “poor sacrificed for the rich future generations.” It also expressed surprise over the silence of the government authorities and Naga civil society organizations on the situation.
Expressing its deepest concern, the NSO has appealed all right thinking Naga citizens to come forward and extend solidarity during such hour of crisis.
