NSO, NSYF-M resolve issues

Lahe (Myanmar), December 19 (MExN): After some years of misunderstanding and confusions between Myanmar based Naga Students’ Organization (NSO) and Naga Students and Youth’s Federation (Myanmar) (NSYF-M), the two organizations have agreed to share responsibilities as students and youth separately during the 5th general conference of NSO held from December 13 to 15 at Mala Taung Hall, Lahe Town.  

A press release from T. Mankhat Konyak, NSO president termed this development the most significant outcome of the conference.  

Both parties unanimously concurred that NSO will deal with all the students activities and will remain as apex body for the Naga students, whereas NSYF-M will change its nomenclature to NYF and will deal with all youth activities and will remain as apex body for entire Naga youths, according to the press release.  

The two organizations also agreed to work hand in hand for the betterment of the Naga society.  

The conference was held under the theme ‘Conquer Impediments’ with U Law Yone, executive member of NSAZ government as chief guest. The speakers were U Harti Yanli, President, NPO, Boveio Poukai Duo, General Secretary, Joshua Thong, Speaker of Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) and Kachin youth representative.  

The conference adopted resolutions to closely monitor the educational system in all Naga-inhibited areas in Myanmar and to strictly check the excessive use of opium in the region.  

The new office bearers of NSO were also elected with T. Mankhat Konyak as President, Myint Naing, General Secretary and L. Patun as Executive Chairman. The next general conference of NSO will be held at Layshi Town.
