NSRLM Orientation & Induction and ToT on FM MCLF concludes

Kohima, August 30 (MExN): Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM) organized three simultaneous programmes on orientation and induction of newly recruited Area Coordinators- Farm and Non-Farm Livelihoods, and ToT on Financial Management of model Cluster Level Federation (FM MCLF) at Kohima from August 24-28.

According to a press release from State Program Manager-HR, NSRLM, W Rachel Ngullie, Jt Secretary, RD & Mission Director, NSRLM, Imtimenla congratulated and welcomed the new recruits to the family of NSRLM. She briefly highlighted the work and achievement of NSRLM in its ninth year of implementation. She encouraged the participants to thrive for positive contribution to the people they serve and the community they support, and to take it as an honor to be working for upliftment of the rural poor of Nagaland as they have been chosen from amongst many of equally qualified candidates.

In his address, Addl Mission Director, NSRLM, T Setsathong Sangtam while welcoming the new team, emphasized on the need of empowering women and promoting gender equality to improve the lives of the poor household both economically and socially. He shared how the lives of the poor masses in rural areas were positively impacted through NSRLM women SHGs and VLOs.

Similarly, M Rollan Lotha, Chief Operating Officer (Programs) encouraged the new team, saying, “You are the first generation of Non-Farm livelihoods professionals being inducted into the State Mission. NSRLM already has a rich network of social capital with 12,100 Self Help Groups, 1,010 Village Level Organisations and 34 Federations.” Lotha exhorted the team and said that their pivotal role in the State Mission was to integrate innovations in the value chain, create models, and diversify the income/resource base of rural poor households in your respective districts.”

Also speaking at the induction of the Farm-Livelihoods team from Agri & Allied background, he stressed on the need to promote integrated farming systems to facilitate farm based habitations and aggregation of farmers produce through Producer Groups and Producer Enterprises.

Further, addressing the Managers from 11 Districts and 74 Blocks at the Model Cluster Level Federation Financial Management training, he stressed on the need to have 74 Cluster Level Federations in all the 74 Blocks by 2023. These community institutions will remain as self-managed sustainable grassroot institutions of poor who will act as effective financial intermediaries, he added.

The induction was jointly facilitated by the State Thematic team—Dr Sokishumo Kithan (Farm Livelihoods), Imonenla Imkong Phom (IBCB and M&E), Renvungo Murry (MIS), W Rachel Ngullie (HR), Rajusalei Lhousu (FI), Tiasenba Longchar (Non Farm Lhds), Atenjen Lemtur (Farm Lhds), Vesuyi Tetseo & Ebibeni Humtsoe (DDU-GKY), Sokhrie Rupreo-A (SISD) etc, and National Resource Persons, Lutfur Rahman (Farm Lhds) and Bhanu Shyam Nakka (Non-Farm Lhds, SVEP and Value chain), according to the release.

The MCLF FM training was facilitated by IBCB team Imonenla and Selabeituo, supported by the Block Program Managers, NSRLM- Nzanbemo Patton, Vitsituo, Hamlen Phom, Repise, Veluhu Vero, Yatao Konyak, Moatoshi, Tolika Sema, and Eyingbeni Ngullie as resource persons.
