Kohima, September 9 (MExN): The Corporate Business Correspondents (CBCs) and the Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM) with identified BC Sakhi candidates held an interactive session at Dimapur on September 5. The programme was organized by NSRLM.


This was part of the one day State level awareness programme on introducing alternate banking model—the Business Correspondent (BC) Sakhi, in the State. BC Sakhi model is a banking service to be made reach to rural pockets and bring more households in the ambit of financial inclusion encompassing account opening, deposits, withdrawal, insurance, remittance, pension, enrolment in social security schemes, etc. 


Bidyut K. Basu, national resource person on financial inclusion (NRP-FI), shared on concept, role and responsibilities, function and inter-relationship of BC Sakhis with NSRLM, banks and corporate BCs. 


Keynote was delivered by Rajuselie Lhousa, program manager-financial inclusion, covering on objective of NRLM, basic areas and programs of financial inclusion, status of Banks in Nagaland, need of alternate banking model in unreached villages and unbanked blocks in the State. He also shared on BC Sakhi policy of NSRLM related to mechanism, incentives, commission etc. as envisaged in the policy.


An interaction session within the trainees, Banks and Corporate BCs on alternate banking model was held having professionals viz. Lanusosang Jamir, state manager, CSC E-Governance Services Ltd., Imsukumzuk, VLE, CSC E-Governance Services Ltd,, Meren Imsong, co-ordinator, E-Gramin Services Pvt. Ltd., Siddhartha Dey, area project manager, Sanjivani Vikas Foundation Pvt. Ltd., Lily Medo, state coordinator, Save Solutions Pvt. Ltd., along with bank officials like K. Tonsing, manager (FI), SBI RBO Dimapur, Neitsote Thopi, field officer NSCB and O. Aokeyi Ao, senior manager, Nagaland Rural Bank.


Altogether 43 participants including eight from resource blocks (RB), 34 from unbanked blocks (UBB) and Bankers representing SBI, NSCB and NRB attended the programme.


“The NSRLM has a plan for FY 2019-20 of training and placing 50 BC Sakhis in different locations having favorable number of SHGs, having CIF sanctioned and SHGs credit linked in the 29 unbanked blocks existing in the State,” stated Rajuselie Lhousa Program Manager-Financial Inclusion NSRLM in a press release.
