NSRLM trains SHG women of Bank Sakhi

Dimapur, September 25 (MExN): A two-day intensive training of Bank Sakhis with the objective of “SHG members as bank facilitators- empowering women to drive financial inclusion” was organized by Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM) from September 18-19 at Dimapur.  

BK Basu and Tilak Das, NRP-FI were the resource persons. They underscored the role of the participants as Bank Sakhis and stated that the SHG women will provide a range of financial services on behalf of the bank to their community.  

“This will help overcome major challenges in ensuring financial inclusion of rural low-income households towards the last mile service delivery,” they added.  

A press release stated that Chief Operating Officer, NSRLM, M Rollan Lotha in his keynote address stated that the State Mission have engaged experienced National Resource Person (NRP) for piloting key strategies to evolve state-specific alternate banking solutions towards achieving door-step financial inclusion.  

The State Mission is also focusing on instituting Community Based Recovery Mechanistic (CBRM); positioning of Banks Sakhis at banks; Business Correspondent Sakhi at villages; joint Financial Literacy camps (NSRLM and Banks); Bankers Exposures; and Community Cross Learnings to reverse the challenges of savings and credit experience in the past and nurture trust, he added.  

He encouraged the participants by saying that scale-up will depend on the success of first batch as community agents of change.
