Dimapur, May 1 (MExN): The NSSATA (2010 & 2013) batch has decided to initiate its first phase of its proposed agitation in form of ‘pen-down strike from May 2 after talks with State Government over 7th ROP and salary issue remained inconclusive.
The Nagaland Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Teachers’ Association (2010 & 2013) batch, on April 23, has served a 7-day ultimatum to the state government demanding their inclusion under 7th Revision of Pay (ROP) in line with regular state employees and to release the salary from January 2018 under the new system. According to a press release from the Association President, Penthungo Y Yanthan and General Secretary Vinoka Sohe informed that a meeting to discuss the ultimatum on May 1 “could not produce any concrete solution nor could any assurance be given by the Government to the Teachers’ Association.”
The meeting was attended by Advisor, School Education, Government Nagaland and the Department officials headed by the Principal Secretary and the Director and NSSATA representatives. While acknowledging the Government’s effort to “take responsibility and for pursuing the matter with sincerity,” the Association said that without any concrete solution or assurance, it had no other option but to initiate the first phase of agitation as decided earlier.
Accordingly, the NSSATA has directed all its members to strictly adhere to the resolution passed and observe the strike. It also conveyed regret to the public, especially the students’ community, for the inconvenience caused, but appealed “all right thinking citizens and organisations for support and cooperation during this difficult hour.”
