Dimapur, April 5 (MExN): With the view to cater to credit needs for improving the socio economic condition of rural people, the Nagaland State Co-operative Bank Ltd (NStCB Ltd) on April 5 signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Social Welfare Society for Rural Development (SOSWORD), based in Wezihu, Meluri, Phek.
The MoU seeks to improve the socio economic condition of rural people through SHGs and JLGs with special focus in the un-banked areas of the State. It was signed by Imtilemba Longkumer, Managing Director, NStCB, and Thuchu Pfithu, Director, SOSWORD.
R Lipoktoba Aier, General Manager(Administration) NStCB, Bendangnungsang, GM (Cr), NSCB, & V K Disong, Manager, FIC, NSCB representing NStCB and Rev. Hopejoy President PBCC, Rev. Rumatho Nyusou Executive Secretary Pochury Baptist Church Council, Rev. Arhuchu Trakha, Chairman, SOWSORD and P Hurutsu, Accountant, representing SOSWORD were present during the occasion.
It may be mentioned here that currently, Meluri Sub-Division has 31 villages and three towns, and only a single bank branch at Meluri is covering the needs of the entire population.
“The Bank is taking up vigorous initiatives to cover all the un-banked blocks of the State as per RBI directives on Financial Inclusion,” stated a press release issued by V. K Disong, Manager, FIC.
