
Tseminyu, December 4 (MExN): The Henbenji Farmers’ Club was inaugurated by Puhovil, Branch Manager of Nagaland State Cooperative Bank (NStCB), Tseminyu branch at Henbenji Village Council Hall on December 3.
The branch in a press release said that tresently, the Club has eighteen non-defaulting members to banks and is linked to Nagaland State Cooperative Bank, Tseminyu branch. The Club is attached to KVK Kohima, Tesophenyu and supported by National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD). Their members have also been formed into three Joint Liability Groups (JLGs) for accessing credit from banks. In this regard, they will be facilitated and monitored by Development Wing of Council of Rengma Baptist Churches (CRBC), Zumpha for credit linkage and ensuring proper end use of loan, including repayments.
The meeting was chaired by Nnole Cheng, Chief Coordinator of the Club and attended by G. Kent, Agriculture Officer, Puhovil, Branch Manager of NStCB, Bendang Aier, AGM, NABARD, Dr. GwazenloTep and Dr. G. Tsela, both Veterinary Assistant Surgeons (VAS) as resource persons.
Lauding the objective of Henbenji Farmers’ Club to bring about “development through credit”, the resource persons also called upon the members to maintain strict financial discipline, transparency in work, develop long term relationship with various development agencies including banks and adopt new technologies in their fields for increasing production and productivity in the light of GoIs resolve to double the income of farmers by the year 2022. Discussion on calendar of activities of the Club and conduct of Base Level Orientation Programme were the other highlights of the day.
