NSU reiterates stand against unauthorised selling of land

Jalukie, July 12 (MExN): Nkio Students’ Union (NSU) convened its first executive meeting after instituting the newly elected office bearers for 2021-2025 tenure at Mungleu Resort, Jalukie on July 10.

Duirng the meeting, NSU in a press release said that the agenda on ancestral land was discussed thoroughly and the members unanimously resolved to respect and honour ancestral land boundaries, and history of the land and continue to resolutely uphold Resolution No. 2 (b) & (c) of the Nkio Pumling Council (NPC) general meeting held on July 29, 2012 at Old Nkio Village Council hall.

Accosring to NSU, “Resolution No. 2 (b) &(c) states (b) Nkio Pumling Council strictly prohibits unauthorized selling of land by any individual (s) or group (s) within Nkio Jurisdiction and asserts to resort punitive action against the defaulter (c)  Any individual (s) or clan (s), in the past or in the days to come, without the knowledge or consent of the Nkio Pumbling Council, indulged themselves in such illegal selling of land shall remain unacceptable and void.”

“The NSU has time and again stands tenaciously against the illegal and unauthorized selling of land within Nkio jurisdiction, and unequivocally stated that any individual, group, or khel/clan going against the 2012 resolution of the NPC will so be doing at their own risk, and responsible for any untoward incident that may take place in future,” the Union asserted. 

The meeting was conducted in the presence of former President Wangko Zeliang, Advisor Akiebo Pame, Advisor Tateituing Ngame, Kunamyi Neime, Pastor  ZBC, Jalukie Town, ZBAN and Nkiolui Council General Secretary.

The new team includes President Dr Pauzieleubo; General Secretary Obed; Finance Secretary Nzamhingbe; Information & Publicity Secretary Keyinreulu; Games & Sports Secretary Haisoyibo; and Treasurer Haisotet. During the meeting, Pastor Kunamyi Neime said both the invocation and benediction.
