NSUC cautions Naga parents on sending children outside

Dimapur, June 6 (MExN): The Naga Students Union Chennai (NSUC) has cautioned all those who are working outside Nagaland not to take Naga children out to other states for ‘free education’ or be sent to orphanages for reasons that the children might be exploited.

The NSUC appealed to Naga parents not to send their children for free education or to orphanages to any place or destination which they do not know and that the parents should be aware of people from their villages or community who entice with promises of opportunities because in most cases the children land in miserable conditions and are often exploited, particularly the girl-child. “…where there is no proper care for the development of the child and be even exposed to many vulnerable situations especially for a girl child which can lead even to child-abuse” the unison stated.

“You will come across many so-called Christian organizations or charitable organizations who seems to be helping needy people, but be cautious and be informed where your children are (being) taken to and what they are doing after” an appeal to parents issued by NSUC President Kezhalezo Angami and Advisor Johnny Ruangmei cautioned. The union stated that “it is a shame for us to see our own children coming from Nagaland living in a deplorable condition deprived of education and healthcare for which they have (been) brought for” .
