Dimapur, May 5 (MExN): The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), Nagaland unit, has issued a response to what it said is in a statement of the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) leaders’ ‘parochial statement’ on May 5 ‘in support of Mutsikhoyo, former NSF president.’
The NSUI reminded the NSF that the federation is an entity that belongs to all section of the Naga students and certainly not an exclusive property of few vested student leaders. As the NSF is a “common property” the NSUI said, all like-minded Naga students are well versed with the provisions of the NSF constitution, its working system or working principles.
Another reminder that the national students’ organization made to the NSF: “On this controversy one inevitable point which the NSF leaders should be cautious is that the former NSF president had issued a parochial statement which is inimical to the stand, declared principle and credibility of the NSF.”
President of the NSUI unit Hitilo Tep stated: “The NSUI know it very well that this despicable statement was issued by the former president without consulting anyone nor it was a general decision of the executives. Therefore, it is a question of misusing the name of NSF with a singular objective to appease his NPF masters to serve for his own individual selfish interest. So whether you brand me as immature or ignorance, to me, it doesn’t matter but you should be more concern about someone who is disfiguring and denigrating the entity of NSF with ulterior motive.”
One should not defend a wrongdoer who ‘cannot be defended in any way’ and ‘concealing the truth will have far reaching consequences for the NSF and the future generation,’ the NSUI reminded the NSF.

Naga Students' Federation clarifies
Dimapur, May 7 (MExN): The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has stated that the statement made by its president has been misconstrued by some few vested interested people in order to suit their political conveniences. The present government has passed the retirement from public employment Act 2009 in order to improve the governance and to create employment avenues to the educated unemployed youths.
Therefore, the federation has every right to defend the enactment of the Act as it is for the interest and welfare of the younger generation, stated the NSF in a pres note issued by its education secretary Ahito Achumi.
“The federation would have not poke its nose on the decision of the NSGEWA to support a particular candidates if their decision is not based on the retirement Act but, in their statement they have categorically stated that they have decided to support S.C. Jamir because the present Government has enacted the retirement Act 2009 which the Federation finds it ridiculous. The Federation has no intention to support any candidate in any election including the present bye-election because it is not a political platform,” it clarified.
However, the attention of the federation was drawn because the Retirement Act 2009 was made as an excuse to play politics. The NSUI and NSGEWA are cordially invited in the NSF office if they want more clarification, it stated.
