NSVC wishes on World Veterinary Day

Dimapur, April 27 (MExN): On the occasion of World Veterinary Day, April 28, Nagaland State Veterinary Council (NSVC) has extended wishes to all the veterinary professionals.

World Veterinary Day was created by the World Veterinary Association in 2000 to be celebrated on the last Saturday of April as an annual celebration of the veterinary profession. This year, the day will be celebrated under the theme ‘The Role of Veterinary Profession in Sustainable Development to Improve Livelihoods, Food Security and Safety’, informed a press release from Dr. Aomangyang Walling, NSVC president and Additional Director, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services department.

“The day is considered significant with the challenges the profession has to face in taking care of the diseases which are transmitted to human being through animals. The large scale population constituting the farmers is depending on animals in sustaining their livelihood. The awareness programme of keeping proper health care through meat products cannot be over emphasized,” the release stated.

Maintaining that the love for animals and cruelty to animals should be of great concern for the veterinary professionals, the Council reminded everyone that “to the world, we may be just a local Veterinarian, but to the animal patients, we are everything.”
