The National Socialist Women’s Organisation of Nagalim (NSWON) held a coordination meeting with the Angami Women’s Organization or Angamimiapfü Mechü Krotho (AMK) on August 30 at Ura Academy Hall under the theme ‘Strengthening of relationships’.
Maj. (Retd) Singyaola Zimik, Chairperson, NSWON gave the welcome address. The resource persons of the meeting were Eustar Chishi Swu, Advisor, NSWON, Ikhres Muivah, Advisor, NSWON, and Singyaola Zimik.
Ikhres Muivah mentioned that the meeting is one of a first in an attempt to join hands together for the Naga issue. “The harvest is ready for us and our children. Let us stand together for Nagaland. To build relationships, it has to be today. The time has come for us to work together,” said Ikhres, who expressed joy in fellowshipping together with the women organisation. She maintained that forgiveness is very important and without it “we” cannot stand together or unite. “We are hopeful of an early settlement. But we don’t know the time,” she added.
With so many divisions, there are also so many rumors, viewed Ikhres, who asserted that Nagas have to forgive each other. The team is further planning to meet women organisation of other tribes too. Meeting the Angami women group first is also a way of thanking and paying tribute to the Angami community for their immense contribution to the Naga cause, according to Ikhres.
Singyaola in her speech contemplated on what best the Naga mothers can do. “We have faced sufferings and sacrifices for freedom. We all put our lives at risk. It is our right, by birth, God has given us this inheritance,” she said, asserting that freedom means peace in the land, progress and prosperity in the land, and ‘Freedom of worship’.
Meanwhile, Avuli Chishi Swu, Advisor, NSWON asserted that the Naga cause would not have been known by others if it had not been claimed as ‘Nagaland for Christ’. She also reminded that one of the most forward and abled women leaders have been the Angamis.
