NTC affirms to bring change

NTC commemorates launching day cum General Council Session  

Kohima, October 12 (MExN): The Nagaland Tribes Council (NTC) commemorated its launching day cum general council session on October 12 at the Red Cross Conference Hall.  

Lendinoktang Ao, President, NTC gave the opening remarks while a report on the activities of NTC was delivered by Nribemo Ngullie, General Secretary, NTC. Short speeches were delivered by Krurovi Peseyie, Zhovehu Lohe and Dr. Hokishe Yepthomi.  

NTC President, Lendinoktang stated that the NTC can educate and enlighten the people of Nagaland state regarding several issue. He stated that there are several important issues that need to be resolved through unity and with the involvement of everyone.  

The NTC President invited all Naga leaders, intellectuals and concerned people to come together and open up their minds for resolution of these issues. “We wanted NTC to be an organization with a difference. We are here always to bring about positive change in this land. And NTC will definitely bring a change to Society,” he affirmed.  

Newly appointed Advisor, Krurovi Peseyie stated that for a long time there was no common platform for Nagas of Nagaland, subsequently the NTC was launched on October 12 and since then it has been functioning with an attitude of goodwill. “It is also a belief that the NTC’s policy is directed not against any faction, any political party, any government, any Hoho/society, but against factionalism, killing, corruption and social evils. It is also a sincere wish and hope that NTC will remain a reliable, truthful and well-prepared civil body which paves the way to break down the barriers that separate Nagas by keeping a sound relationship with all Nagas, our neighbours and New Delhi also,” said Peseyie. He advised that NTC must speak, work and serve for the National cause, the interest of our people, while also keeping in mind the interest of others.  

“It is a wonder that modern scientific inventions and technologies may be able to bring about great changes miraculously; however reconciliation, peace, truthfulness and oneness could be only brought about by the effort of humankind with the help of God,” added Peseyie. He hoped that the NTC would remain functional as a sound working and serving factory from which reconciliation, peace, unity and good relationships are developed.  

NTC Advisor, Zhovehu Lohe meanwhile advised the NTC to rise above “typical retrogressive traditionalism” and “‘elements of close sided egoism.” “Had NTC been founded with the endorsement of tainted organisations, NTC would have been dragged down by those who are in the prison of the rich and the powerful,” he said.  

New officials were also declared during the commemoration. The newly elected officials include Krurovi Peseyie and Lumbe Meru as Advisors, Ahovi Jimo and Visa Meru as executive council members and Khevishe Achumi as General Council member.  

The general council session was held after the commemoration. During the session, a speech was delivered by Khekiye Sema, IAS (Rtd) on the present political scenario prevailing in the state. A press note from the NTC informed that after thorough deliberation on various agenda by the General Council members, the General Council Session unanimously resolved to endorse the Executive Council resolution adopted on the 3rd of August, 2016 for constitution of Mediation Committee, NTC to mediate and bring about better understanding amongst NNPGs.  

It further deliberated on the presentation made by NTC representative to CCoFA and agreed to fully support the action plan of the Coordination Committee on Fuel Adulteration till the issue is brought to a logical conclusion.
