Kohima, March 21 (MExN): The Nagaland Tribes Council (NTC) today stated that NSCN (K)’s statement that it is not averse to peace and “its posture for peaceful approach for resolving the Naga political issue” is a positive gesture and a timely response to the calls of the people.
“The NTC welcome such magnanimity and once again appeals to the GOI to restore ceasefire and initiate political negotiation with NSCN (K) so as to eventually bring all NNPGs to negotiating table for an inclusive talk,” stated a press release from NTC Media Cell.
“As much as the Nagas had suffered from political turmoil out of political movement for years together, that much the Nagas deserve to live in peace,” it asserted. “…Today, we have been under ceasefires for the last two decades, and yet the Nagas remained wanting for peace since we do not enjoy real peace in the prevailing situation. The main reason being that all the Naga political groups are not having ceasefire with GOI and that is our common anxiety.”
