NTC appeals NPGs and GoI to deliver solution without delay

Kohima, July 13 (MExN): The Nagaland Tribes Council (NTC) on Tuesday said that the on-going negotiations between the Naga Political Groups (NPGs) and the Government of India (GoI) have created anxiety as it has been going on for the last 24 years without arriving at its logical conclusion.

In a press release on Tuesday, the NTC President Toniho Yepthomi and General Secretary Nribemo Ngullie stated that significant achievements during the process of political negotiations.

“One such major achievement is apparently the culmination of the Political dialogue of the GOI and the NPGs on ‘31st October 2019’ with Agreed Points for settlement, considering ‘all unresolved matters shall be pursued through democratic political process post-solution,’” the release stated.

In this regard, the NTC stated that “The Nagas are impatient now to continue remaining in years of uncertainties,” adding that the negotiating parties should be pragmatic in bringing out the desired solution.

It also urged the GoI to be sincere and have “political will” to deliver what was promised in terms of a political solution that is honourable and acceptable to all concern without further delay.

Meanwhile, the NTC welcomed the formation of the Parliamentary Core Committee on Naga Political Issue which held its first meeting on July 9 and extended good wishes to the committee in its endeavour “to take up the task- as a major facilitator for Naga peace process- to play an active facilitation to create atmosphere of peace and prepare landing ground by paving the way for solution so as to fulfil the long cherished dreams of political solution to the vexed Naga political issue.”
