NTC for keeping JEE ‘doubtful candidates’ in abeyance

Kohima, August 19 (MExN): The Nagaland Tribes Council (NTC) has stated that several “doubtful candidates” have appeared for the Joint Entrance Examinations (JEE) 2018 from Nagaland and have also made it into the merit list.

The Council requested the government to “keep the cases of those doubtful candidates in abeyance till the administration rectify its indigenous certificates through standard procedures to establish the antecedents of the candidates in question.”

These “irregularities” was detected by parents and ANCSU, according to the NTC media cell, and can have “far reaching consequences once precedent is created and the department proceeds with counseling and nomination along with the doubtful candidates.”

Despite objection raised by NTC and instructions given by the Chief Secretary, stated the NTC in a press release today, the Department of Technical Education could not rectify its Notification vide No.DTE/CSAB-NEUT/1/2018-19.

“In view of the loophole created by inconsistent rules and guidelines, there are several applicants with doubtful documents who were allowed to appear JEE, 2018 and they are now placed in the merit list as well. The NTC is shocked to have learned from the revelations made by ANCSU and parents of the expectant candidates,” noted the NTC.

The NTC opined that “the administration had issued indigenous certificates to several candidates who are not qualified under the criteria laid down in the notification No. AR-8/8/76 dated April 28, 1977.”

It cautioned the administration “not to play with the rights of the indigenous citizens of the state.”
