NTPRADAO (PJ) backs JCC strike; flays State Govt over IAS selection

Dimapur, October 22 (MExN): The Nagaland Transparency Public Rights Advocacy & Direct Action Organisation (People’s Justice) [NTPRADAO (PJ)] has extended its support to the ongoing pen-down strike called by the Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) while criticising the state government over the selection of officers for induction into the Indian Administrative Service (IAS).

In a press release issued today, the NTPRADAO (PJ) stated that the JCC’s demands concerning the alleged selection of non-State Civil Service (non-SCS) officers into the IAS were “absolutely and logically very genuine.”

The organisation questioned the government’s decision in the matter, terming it a “mockery” of the IAS post before the public.
Meanwhile, the NTPRADAO (PJ) also flagged what it termed the “nonchalant attitude of Naga CSOs, intellectuals, and society leaders for not fully and openly supporting the JCC cause.”

To this end, it cautioned that if the system was not rectified, “unqualified appointees” could supersede deserving candidates in the future.

Further, the NTPRADAO (PJ) maintained that the issue concerns “the future of Naga generations and the long-term welfare” of the people.

It assured the JCC of logistical support, stating that it would provide 100 volunteers for any future strike or agitation, and reiterated its commitment to support the JCC’s mission “till it is accomplished.”

The organisation, however, noted that its present involvement was limited as the JCC’s activities were “confined to government offices.”

The NTPRADAO (PJ) also criticised some of its former signatories for “not doing enough” to support the JCC’s demand.
