NTTU welcomes govt order on Peren timber ban issue

Dimapur, June 29 (MExN): The Nagaland Timber Traders’ Union (NTTU) on Wednesday welcomed the intervention of the state government in resolving the impasse between the NTTU and the civil society organisations under Peren district.

Referring to an order issued by Nagaland Commissioner on June 23, the NTTU Media Cell in a press release appreciated the state government for its role as mediators and for formulating the modalities and bringing about an amicable solution.

While expressing gratitude to all the timber traders, NGOs and well-wishers for extending solidarity, the NTTU and its affiliated units expressed regret to the general public of Peren district for the inconvenience caused during the agitation by timber traders. “NTTU hopes that with the timely intervention by the state government, better understanding and cooperation would prevail in days to come,” the release stated.
