NTUCT appeals for lifting of Chathe bridge-Jharnapani road blockade

DIMAPUR, JULY 27 (MExN): The Naga Tribal Union Chümoukedima Town (NTUCT) has called for total lifting of NH-29 road blockade from Chathe Bridge, Chümoukedima to Jharnapani which has remained closed for vehicles since July 4.

In a representation to the Home Commissioner, Government of Nagaland, NTUCT president, Lhusito Khro and general secretary, Longshi Kikon stated that the major lifeline road connectivity to the state capital of Nagaland and beyond has been kept paralyzed since July 4, 2023 after the unfortunate and ill fated rock slide incident. 

While expressing condolence over the loss of the precious lives and damage caused allegedly due to the reckless and undesirable standard workmanship of the (NHIDCL), the NTUCT, however, felt that imposing road blockade is not a tangible solution and at the same time impact the economy as well. 

It also observed the immense hardship and trauma caused to the commuters who have to travel on this road at its own risk. 

Urging upon the state government to immediately lift the blockade of NH-29 the road stretch from Chathe Bridge to Jharnapani, the Union also asked the concerned agencies to immediately take up adequate measures to mitigate the blockade and add proper safety measures.
