NTUCT resents Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016

Dimapur, January 28 (MExN): The Naga Tribal Union Chümoukedima Town (NTUCT) during its executive meeting held on January 18 deliberated over the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill (CAB) 2016 which was passed in the Lok Sabha recently despite of the strong objection raised by the people.

NTUCT, Joint Secretary, Akato Sema in a press release stated that the house expressed its unhappiness upon the support voted by the lone Lok Sabha MP Tokheho Yeptho and also the State Government’s decision not to oppose the Bill. The house further resolved to render its full co-operation and support to the ongoing movement against the passage of CAB-2016 which is very much against the welfare and security of the North-East people.

Meanwhile, the NTUCT destroyed huge quantities of illegal IMFL as various brand on January 28 as part of its continuous fight against social evils within its jurisdiction. This is the second phase of mass destruction of spurious liquor confiscated from different pockets and corners.

During the meeting the house also unanimously extended fresh mandate to the NTUCT to effectively continue their fight against sale of illegal IMFL and banned drugs and was further empowered to impose harsher punishment to anyone found indulging in such trade.

It also resolved to participate and co-sponsored the Cultural Nite at Chümoukedima Town which is being organized by the Altrura Society.
