NU cancels 2nd and 4th semester exams

Informs on modules for promotion of students

Dimapur, June 9 (MExN): Nagaland University (NU) has informed all affiliated colleges that the 2nd and 4th semester examination for the academic session 2020 will not be conducted in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The move is as per the approval of the Academic Council and in reference with UGC guidelines on April 29, Dr Moangsangba, Controller of Examinations, Nagaland University notified on Tuesday.

In this regard, NU has issued modules for promoting the 2nd and 4th semester students.

For both 2nd and 4th semester students, there will be no examination in 2020. In line with the UGC guidelines regarding conduct of examinations, 50% weightage will be awarded on the basis of internal/continuous evaluation marks of 4th semester and 50% weightage will be awarded on the basis of previous semester’s (3rs semester) average marks, the NU informed.

In case any student has a backlog from the 3rd semester, the weightage will be considered from the 1st semester’s average marks, it added.

For 2nd semester students,  50% weightage will be based on the  internal/continuous evaluation marks of 2nd semester and 50% weightage will be awarded on the basis of the previous semester’s (1st semester) average marks. In case a student has backlog in 1st semester, the weightage will be considered from the average of the subjects passed in the 1st semester.

This provision for promotion is only for the current academic session (2020), the NU notification said.
