Nagaland University celebrated International Mother Language Day 2024 at its headquarters in Lumami on February 21.

Lumami, February 21 (MExN): Nagaland University celebrated the International Mother Language Day 2024 at its headquarters in Lumami with Vice-Chancellor Prof Jagadish Kumar Patnaik as the chief guest, and Registrar Dr Abemo as the special guest. 

The programme was attended by FO N Albert Khizho, faculty members, administrative staff, and students.

The event was hosted by Dr Suraj Beri, with welcome address by Kahoshe Sumi. Chanbenthung Lotha presented a special song. Dr Deepak Bhaskar delivered a short speech, sharing insights on the significance of International Mother Language Day.

Catherine and Vieneite-u presented a special number. Prof Dasrathi Bhuyan delivered a special address, emphasising the importance of linguistic diversity and cultural heritage. Lalan Kumar Jha presented a poetic performance. Prizes and certificates were awarded to the winners of the quiz competition. 

Along with that Centre for Naga Tribal Language Studies (CNTLS), Kohima Campus, Nagaland University celebrated International Mother Language Day 2024. Dr Laishram Bijenkumar Singh and Dr Imlienla Imchen from CNTLS delivered speeches on the importance of mother tongue in line with the UNESCO theme. A quiz was also organised as part of the event.
