Dimapur, March 2 (MExN): The valedictory session of the two-day National Seminar on “Social Lives of Infrastructure in Northeast India: Navigating Diversity, Connectivity and Resilience” concluded at Nagaland University’s Department of Sociology. The seminar, sponsored by ICSSR New Delhi, Nagaland University, and Member of Parliament Supongmeren Jamir, brought together scholars and researchers from across the country.

The session was chaired by Dr. Dipika Paul of Nagaland University, who welcomed participants and summarized the discussions. Dr. Sandeep Gupta, convenor of the seminar, highlighted the deliberations on the socio-political and economic dimensions of infrastructure in the region, emphasizing challenges related to connectivity, diversity, and resilience. Participants engaged in an interactive feedback session, with many noting how the discussions broadened their understanding of the region’s infrastructural complexities.
Prof. G.T. Thong, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Nagaland University’s Kohima Campus, lauded the multidisciplinary approach of the seminar, while Patron Prof. Mithilesh Kumar Sinha underscored its significance in analyzing Northeast India’s infrastructural landscape. Certificates were distributed to participants following the speeches.
Dr. Suraj Beri, the organizing secretary, delivered the closing remarks, stressing the need to examine infrastructure through socio-cultural, political-legal, and ecological perspectives. The seminar concluded with a group photo and informal discussions over refreshments.
