Kohima, June 24 (MExN): NIELIT Kohima in collaboration with Nagaland University conducted Faculty Development Program (FDP) on e-Learning Content Development and Delivery System for faculties of Nagaland University (NU), Kohima from June 17 to 23.

The inaugural programme was graced by Prof M Aleminla, Pro Vice Chancellor of NU Kohima Campus. Appreciating the organisers, she said that the programme is the need of the hour especially at a time when classroom teaching-learning has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

While delivering the keynote address, L Lanuwabang, Director NIELIT said, “The classroom no longer refers to a physical location and students can learn from an environment they are comfortable in. e-Learning has changed the way students think about education and pursue their degrees. With this sudden shift away from the classroom, adoption of technology in learning has become crucial,” he said.

The Director stated that e-learning is not intended to replace conventional methods and learning in classroom. Its aim is to create an augmented learning environment where technology is used to deliver a combined range of teaching and learning techniques. “If online learning, technology can play a role during times like this, it is incumbent upon all of us to explore its full potential,” he added.

Varied of topics were covered such as Tools and technique for e-content preparation, Audio-visual e-content preparation for self-paced learning and Instructor led online classes, online delivery of lecture and content using cloud based classroom and through learning management system. The trainees were shown how to create course, subjects, topics, creating quizzes, assignments, grading and keeping track of student activities etc. They also registered in the LMS and uploaded their e-content prepared during the training period.

NIELIT has informed that it plans to conduct more such trainings as there is a demand and enquiry. Those interested may contact NIELIT Kohima for further information.
