Chümoekedima, February 14 (MExN): Nearly two decades after launching its first Master of Business Administration (MBA) cohort, the Department of Management, Nagaland University, convened its second Alumni Meet at Noune Resort in Chümoukedima on February 14.

Organised by the Department of Management Alumni Association (DoMAA), the gathering brought together graduates from different batches, marking a significant milestone since the Department admitted its inaugural MBA batch in 2008.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Ditalak Mpanme, Assistant Professor, Department of Management, recalled that the Department began operations on a temporary campus with only two faculty members and limited infrastructure. Over the years, it has grown steadily and has produced 16 graduating batches, with alumni serving across various sectors.

He stated that, in addition to the MBA, the Department presently offers PGDTTM, PhD-ESBM, EMBA and PhD programmes.

Prof N Venuh, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Nagaland University, Kohima Campus, commended the Alumni Association for organising the second reunion and lauded the participation of graduates from different generations. Reflecting on the Department’s establishment in 2007 and its subsequent progress, he noted that 16 batches have entered diverse professions.

He also announced that a permanent building with upgraded infrastructure is expected to be completed within two years and emphasised perseverance as the foundation of sustained success.

Guest of Honour L Dorendro Singh, Assistant Registrar at National Institute of Technology Manipur, spoke about the Department’s formative years marked by limited resources but strong resolve. He highlighted its academic expansion, including doctoral and postgraduate diploma programmes, and urged alumni to uphold honesty, responsibility and helpfulness in their professional lives.

The programme began with a welcome address by DoMAA President Kekhüsezo Zao, followed by the General Secretary’s report presented by Asani Eshena. An obituary segment, led by Neisal Theyo, was observed in remembrance of departed members of the alumni fraternity.

Earlier, the session was chaired by Dr Sohile Tep, with Kekhrieneinuo Khro serving as Rapporteur and Atoholi Chishi delivering the invocation. The event also featured the formal handing and taking-over ceremony of new office bearers for the tenure 2026–2033, conducted by Mr Ekonthung K Yanthan, symbolising continuity of leadership and renewed commitment to the Association’s long-term vision.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr Novito Kweho, followed by a benediction by Ms Kazia Zhimo.

Beyond the ceremonial aspects, the second Alumni Meet underscored the consolidation of management education at Nagaland University, which over 16 batches has cultivated a professional community with a growing presence across regional and national sectors. Organisers said the gathering reaffirmed the shared mandate to strengthen networks, deepen mentorship and advance academic and professional excellence in the years ahead.
