Kohima April 20 (MExN): Nagaland University Meriema, Kohima Campus on its second day of the Coloridos Fest celebrated cultural day on April 20 with the theme ‘Venturing forth valor’.
A press release informed that the Ao cultural troupe echoed the coming of the guest speakers – Vihiehu Nguozhü, Additional Director and HoD, Soil and Water Conservation and Prof. N Venuh, Dean of Social Sciences, Department of History and Archaeology.
Professor N Venuh reminded of the importance of moral values that once accompanied “our” forefathers, which is now lacking in our society. Meanwhile, Viliehu Nguzhü briefed the gathering on how tradition is not culture and that they mean different things. He also stressed on the importance and uniqueness of our culture, the release stated. Earlier, the Sumi cultural troupe enthralled the gathering with Aqhekishi, the war dance of the Sumis, and the aftermath- the womenfolk catering the warriors.
The formal session ended with blessings from Sharon Kikon, MIG leader, NUEU.
The second session, anchored by Seyievinuo Chuzho and Yursem David, saw cultural performances by various tribes. Folk songs, folklores, folk dramas and folk dances were performed by various tribes, while the cultural attire display was a fusion of all the various tribes.
