NU–KVK conducts 4-day vocational training
Zunheboto, November 13 (MExN): Vocational training cum demonstration was conducted on the theme ‘Empowering women through skill based training’ by KVK, Nagaland University, Lumami for 4 days, which started on November 7.
Altogether 25 women participants from Akuluto town attended the training. They were trained on various methods of food processing and preservation techniques. The main focus of the training was to enable women folk to learn various methods not only for home consumption but also to help them to generate source of income in a small way.
A specific training was held on each day such as ginger candy, soynuts and preparation of various pickles from vegetables and fruits locally available. The training was conducted by Narola Anichari (Home science), KVK.
Valedictory function was held on November 11 where Dr Rakesh Chaurasia, Senieor Scientist & Head expressed happiness and asked the SHGs to take advantage of the skill training programme and start their own business. He also asked them to be proactive in their approach and not to wait for any subsidies from the government.
They should be self reliant and ready to face the market challenges, he added. The programme ended with distribution of certificates and some equipments to the participants.
