NU SAS inaugurates new hostels

MEDZIPHEMA, MARCH 2 (MExN): Nagaland University’s School of Agricultural Sciences (SAS), Medziphema Campus, inaugurated new Boys’ and Girls’ Hostels along with The Study Falcon Project, funded by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), during a ceremony held at the Multipurpose Hall on February 28.

Dr. R.C. Agrawal, Deputy Director General (Education) of ICAR, New Delhi, attended as the chief guest, with Prof. Akali Sema, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Nagaland University, Medziphema Campus, presiding over the event. Other dignitaries included Dr. I. Shakuntala Devi, Dean of the College of Veterinary Science (CAU), Jalukie, and Dr. Girish Patil S., Director of NRC Mithun.

Following a dedication prayer by Pastor Nahang Chawang of the Spirit of Faith Church, Dr. Agrawal unveiled the inaugural plaque and cut the ribbon, formally opening the hostels. In his address, he highlighted the growing role of artificial intelligence (AI) in education and urged students to harness technology to contribute to India's vision of “Viksit Bharat 2047.”

The Study Falcon Project, introduced at the event, aims to support Scheduled Tribe (ST) students by providing an AI-driven platform for competitive exam preparation. Core team member Mr. Vinay Goel and Principal Investigator Dr. Mary N. Odyuo presented a technical briefing on the initiative, describing it as a “complete package” offering learning resources, interactive tools, and personalized guidance.

The event also featured a construction report by Er. Merijan Tsopeo, a musical performance by students from the Students’ Union, and participation from faculty and students across Nagaland University’s colleges. The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Anthony V. Richa, Deputy Registrar of NU Medziphema Campus.
