Nagaland University (NU) vice chancellor Prof. K. Kannan visited Thetsumi village under Phek district on April 21 last
Speaking on the occasion, he desired Thetsumi village to become a Bio- research village, adding that the scope for this concept lies at the bright side provided the villagers put their head together and display its sincerity.
In this respect, Prof. Kannan assured the villagers that he would take up the matter with the higher authority.
Prof. Kannan also urged upon the village elders to enlarge the weight of dignity of labour within the house of the younger generation and motivate them to make the best use of education for better living.
Talking on the mushrooming colleges, the Vice Chancellor stressed on the need to transmit quality education to the students. He also encouraged the students to give more attention in their study so as to accomplish their desired dream.
Referring to the era of modern technology, Prof. Kannan challenged the parents to encourage their children to actively associate with science and mathematics, thereby enabling them to cope with the latest technology along with the rest of the world.
He also urged upon the villagers to demonstrate the strength of sincerity and dedication and join the race of the competitive world.
Also speaking on the occasion, Thetsumi village council chairman Vetsope Venuh appealed to the Vice Chancellor to strengthen the modern method of farming and animal husbandry in the village, adding that this village possesses immense potential for cattle farming.
Earlier, Vethsete Doulo, headmaster, Eastern Mission School, Thetsumi chaired the function. Neichute Doulo, director, Entrepreneur Associates, Wetso, proprietor, Bible House and Thupuphi accompanied the Vice Chancellor.
Folk song and indigenous rhymes was presented by village elders and students of Eastern Mission School respectively.
