
Kohima | January 3 : At present two townships of Nagaland- Dimapur and Mokokchung town are covered under the programme of National Urban Information System (NUIS). Collection of primary data for the two towns has been completed by the department of urban development while aerial survey has been completed by the Survey of India. This project will be further extended to other towns of Nagaland also, the department said in its annual administrative report 2009-10.
The NUIS is a national programme aimed at creation of data base for all urban centres in the country for their effective planning, management and decentralized governance.
The funding pattern under this programme is 70:30 Centre and State share respectively. The main components of the programme are ‘spatial data’ such as maps/images including inputs from Satellites and Aircraft and ‘statistical data & statistical attributes’ for creation of maps using Geographical Information System (GIS) and high precision survey.
