Kohima: The Nagaland University Non- Teaching Staff Association (NUNTSA) today stated that it has not in position to suspend its agitation as none of the charter demands of the Association has been fulfilled.

The sit-in-protest of the NUNTSA entered third day today.

“While appreciating the action taken in constituting a committee to meet the land donors of Lumami, the Association is not in position to suspend its agitation as this stage as none of the charter demands of the Association vide Ultimatum No. NTSA/NUK/GS/05/dated 28th Nov. 2005 has been fulfilled,” the Association said in letter addressed to Vice Chancellor NU today in reply to appeal dated February 20, 2006.

The letter signed by the Association president Imchatoshi, Vice President Kughavi Sema and General Secretary Wabang Aonok said that the NUNTSA, while acknowledging the receipt of the letter of appeal dated February 20, 2006, “regret to note that the appeal has no merit as it is based on a report submitted by the PIC, Lumami, which indicates that the Lumami Campuses is functioning smoothly despite the ongoing agitation of the non teaching employees.”

“The report of the PIC, which was submitted as per your directives, is a direct insult to the NUNTSA because it undermines the role of the non teaching staff in the functioning of the University, “the letter made available to The Morung Express said.

Hence, it said, the Association demands that all regular non teaching employees posted at Lumami be transferred and posted to other campuses of the University, since the PIC can run the University campus at Lumami in a peaceful atmosphere even without their service.

“An explanation should also therefore, be obtained from the PIC for reporting that the campus is running smoothly without any disturbance, when an integral part of the University is on agitation, “the letter continued.
