NUSU (L) questions DHE on scholarship delay

Dimapur, October 10 (MExN): The Nagaland University Students’ Union, NUSU (L) has expressed utter dismay against the department of higher education for its failure to disburse postgraduate scholarship for the year 2017-18.

The NUSU (L) in a press release stated that they met the concerned authority in the month of August regarding delay of scholarship and found that the scholarship forms of the students had been rejected on the basis of students’ percentage not fulfilling the criteria for merit scholarship. But, this was not the case as most of the student's percentage was eligible for merit scholarship, it stated. After thorough deliberation, the authorities assured them that no students would be denied of their rightful scholarship. However, there has been no sign of positive development from the concerned authorities, it added.

The Union further wants to know whether the department have justified its stand and how long will the department take to re verify the scholarship forms and disburse it to the students. The department is well apprised of the fact that most of the students rely on their scholarships for payment of their annual fees and fulfilling other academic needs, it added.

Vowing to stand and safeguard the interest of the students community, the NUSU (L) has asked the concerned department to give clarification on the issue and disburse scholarship at the earliest, failing to do so would result in further course of action for which the department and state government would be held responsible.
