Reiterates commitment to continue to fight against corruption
Kohima, April 24 (MExN): The Nagaland University Teachers' Association (NUTA) has extended gratitude to the Visitor, Nagaland University, the President of India, for accepting the resignation of Prof. GD Sharma from vice chancellorship of Nagaland University as per the demands of the university teachers and student community.
“NUTA is grateful to the MHRD for understanding the gravity of the situation and taking up a positive step towards solving the long drawn crisis in the university. We are grateful to the Chief Rector, Governor of Nagaland for constantly being concerned for the development and welfare of the University and to our 2 MPs in parliament for their concern and submitting the representation to the concerned authority,” said CEC NUTA president Dr. Akali Sema and NUTA, Kohima president Rosemary Dzuvichu.
NUTA is indebted to the NSF, PGSU, NSUD and tribal presidents in Delhi and NPMHR for their constant support to the fight against corruption in the university. It also thanked the media fraternity in the state for highlighting the university crisis through thought provoking editorials, news coverage and articles during the past four and half years of their struggle for justice and accountability in their higher education system in the state.
The Association also conveyed gratitude to all those who believed in their pursuit for preserving the sanctity of this highest seat of learning and supported the cause.
NUTA reiterated its commitment to continue to fight against corruption, injustice and ensure transparency, accountability, equality and academic excellence in the higher education of the state.
NUTA firmly believed that the decision of the President of India “signifies the existence of democracy and justice in the country and we hope that this far sighted vision will be also exercised by the Search Committee in the selection and appointment of the new Vice Chancellor of Nagaland University.”
We look forward to a vice chancellor who is a renowned academician with high integrity, sensitive to the needs of the academia, having vast experience and skill in building a university, with a great vision of making this furthermost central university of the Country into a premier institute of academic excellence, the release added.
