NUTA turn heat on Accountant General’s de-tour

Dimapur April 6 (MExN): The Nagaland University Teachers Association (NUTA) has taken strong exception at the Accountant General of Nagaland’s by-passing the office of the Vice Chancellor NU on matter where a two member team from the Auditor General’s office would be visiting the university for enquiries (reported in The Morung Express April 6 issue) into the points raised by the association to the Comptroller Auditor General and the Central Vigilance Commission.

In a missive addressed to the Accountant General’s office issued by NUTA President Rosemary Dzuvichu and General Secretary R Kaurinta, the association expressed shock that the Accountant General did not deem fit to write to the Vice Chancellor of NU on the aforesaid matter and instead intimated the Registrar first who according to the teachers, is one of the first persons under scrutiny.

“The association demands an immediate rectification of the important letter for enquiry by addressing it to the VC as the Vice Chancellor is the head of the University as you are well aware.

The very fact that you have written to the person, who himself is under scrutiny on various irregularities, is highly questionable” the NUTA stated. The association warned that it would not allow any manipulations from the Accountant General’s office and would not hesitate to report the serious breach of trust to both the CAG and the CVC at Delhi.

Further, demanding an official meeting with the two representatives from the AG office who will be enquiring into the irregularities, as it was the NUTA that had asked for action taken from the two mentioned offices in Delhi under the Right to Information Act within 30 days, the NUTA warned cautioned against any delay in the process.

“Any inordinate delay from your end in Nagaland will result in the failure of the functioning of the RTI and NUTA will not hesitate to take its own course of legal action” the association warned.
