Kohima, July 25 (MExN): A two-day capacity building programme was conducted at the DEO and SDEO office premises in Kohima on July 22 and 23.
The event was organised under the Department of School Education (DoSE) with the aim of enhancing knowledge and practices related to nutrition, balanced diets, food safety, and hygiene among Mid-Day Meal cooks, stated a press release received here.
Approximately 200 cooks from 122 Government schools of four blocks within Kohima district participated in the training. The initiative aimed to empower cooks with the necessary skills and knowledge to prepare nutritious and hygienic meals for school children, thereby contributing to their overall health and well-being.
Chef Supong, a culinary expert, conducted insightful sessions on nutrition, the importance of balanced meals, food safety standards, and proper hygiene practices.
The programme was also attended by senior officials from DoSE, including the Commissioner & Secretary, Principal Director, Additional Director, Joint Director, and Deputy Directors.
