Chümoukedima, June 3 (MExN): The Nagaland Volleyball Association (NVA), in collaboration with the global humanitarian movement Art of Giving (AOG), organised a volleyball equipment distribution programme under the theme "Share to Shine through Voluntarism" at Hotel Paramount, Chumoukedima, on June 2.
The initiative, sponsored by Art of Giving, aimed at promoting grassroots volleyball and supporting young players across Nagaland. Volleyballs and nets were distributed to district units affiliated with the NVA to strengthen training facilities and encourage wider participation in the sport.
Speaking at the programme, NVA president Visasilie Suhu expressed gratitude to Art of Giving for the support, stating that quality sports equipment often remains a challenge for aspiring players in remote areas.
"This donation will help our players train better and prepare for state and national-level tournaments. 'Share to Shine' truly reflects the spirit of sports—when we give, we all rise together," he said.
Representatives of Art of Giving said the movement is built on the Indian value of "daan" or the joy of giving. Referring to its theme, "Neighbour Good – Bringing Good to the Neighbourhood", they said the initiative seeks to strengthen local communities and support sporting talent in far-flung regions of Nagaland through voluntarism.
Founded in 2013 by educationist and philanthropist Achyuta Samanta, Art of Giving is currently in its 12th edition and has grown into a global movement engaging more than 2.5 million members worldwide. The organisation said it has representation across more than 220 national federations affiliated with the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB).
The programme was attended by NVA officials, representatives of district sports council units, coaches and players. Following the distribution of sports goods, the association held an extended meeting of its office-bearers and executive members.
During the meeting, the NVA decided to organise the Inter-District Volleyball Tournament 2026 in November. The host district for the tournament will be selected from among the district units of the association.
NVA officials reiterated the association's commitment to developing volleyball at the grassroots level through training, competitions and infrastructure support, while creating greater opportunities for youth across Nagaland.
