NVBDCP re-orientation training in Longleng

Longleng, September 16 (MExN): The National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) under Chief Medical Officer’s office, Longleng organized one day re-orientation training at IDSP Hall, CMO office here.  

A press release issued by Roseline, District Media Officer, NHM, Longleng informed that the programme was attended by CMO Dr. Ritu Thurr, Dr Thungbemo Patton, DVBO (NVBDCP), Afen Phom, DVB Consultant, and Johnson Abraham, Lab Technician.  

CMO Dr. Ritu Thurr in his welcome speech encouraged all the participants to be active and work harder to achieve the desired goal.   Afen Phom, VBD Consultant spoke on the topic ‘Job responsibilities and basic information on vector borne diseases and vector control’. She encouraged the participants to make close observation and increase surveillance. She also encouraged the permanent field workers to survey the field work while spraying.  

Dr. Thungbemo Patton spoke on the topic ‘Signs and symptoms of malaria, JE and dengue and diagnosis and treatment of malaria’. Dr. Patton detailed the participants on how to diagnose malaria, its prevention, how to get the proper treatment, and how to give the right prescription and right medicines to the patients.  

The practical session was led by Johnson Abraham, Lab Technician. He spoke on ‘Blood slide preparation and bivalent RDT, and recording and reporting’. He also explained about the National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme guidelines for treatment of malaria in Northeastern States.
