NVBDCP Wokha observes anti-malaria month

Wokha, June 29 (MExN): National Vector borne disease control programme ( NVBDCP) Wokha observed anti-malaria month under the theme ‘Time to deliver Zero malaria, Invest, Innovate, Implement’ across Wokha district in villages bordering Assam and endemic localities of hard to reach area during the month of June.

The district had selected the villages based on the endemicity, prevalence of fever cases and hotspot areas of vectors, stated a press release from Office of the Chief Medical Officer Wokha.

Wezolo Medo, District Consultant NVBDP said the main objective of observing anti-malaria month was to create awareness among the community on preventive measures to be taken against the disease and to involve maximum stakeholders so that the message of Prevention, Early diagnosis and complete treatment reaches to all citizens. During awareness camps, prevention of malaria, its signs and symptoms, modes of transmission, Diagnosis, treatment, reduction of vector, use of Long lasting insecticidal net (LLIN) etc were discussed with the community stakeholders. 

With the help of the Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) in the district, house to house visit for checking of usage of LLIN was carried out and citizens were encouraged to regularly use it throughout the year.  

Wezolo informed that sanitation drives were also carried out in some villages with the help of the villagers where breeding sources were destroyed and removed. Fever screening was also done in all the selected villages with the involvement of ASHAs, he added.
