Dimapur, June 14 (MExN): The Nagaland Voluntary Consumers’ Organisation(NVCO) has stated that the cabinet decision to regularize the 27 contingency Medical Officer(MO) posts has demoralised National Health Mission Employee Association(NEAN), Nagaland Junior Doctors’ Association(NJDA) and contract doctors of Naga Hospital Authority Kohima.
The NVCO has said that the decision “amounts to discrimination, injustice, nepotism, illegal, backdoor appointment, unconstitutional and against the government standing order, service rules and guidelines.”
While stating that it ‘fully understands’ the shortage of doctors and nurses in the state which has been adversely affecting the delivery of healthcare services in the present crisis, the NVCO said that it cannot compromise with the cabinet decision to regularise the said contingency appointments.
Questioning the government on the regularization, NVCO said, “Are they specialist and more experience than aggrieved doctors in handling COVID-19 positive cases?”
It reminded the State Government to not neglect the thousands of employees including doctors, nurses, paramedical staff, technicians and others who have been deeply hurt and remain demoralised by the act.
It also demanded an immediate review of the decision.
Meanwhile, the NVCO also made an appeal to the aggrieved group(doctors, nurses and others) to resume their duty as their service is ‘greatly needed to save lives’ in this crucial situation.
