The Vigilance Awareness Week was observed under the theme: “Eradicate Corruption- Build a New India” from October 29 to November 3.   The NVCO in a representation earlier submitted to the State Chief Secretary, GoN on October 3 “to set up Lokayukta to eradicate ‘Corruption’ in Nagaland.” A release from NVCO Press & Media Cell stated that abuse of power is eminent in the state by using position or status to discriminate somebody by engaging Grade-IV or Constable in their own private works even to the extent of taking care of their aged parents.   It said that appointment in government offices is also carried without any advertisement in the press and no selection process followed. “The concerned government approval authority approves candidatures of their own children and relatives,” it said.   The organization also mentioned on favoritism and bribery, Embezzlement and fraud. “Every year CAG has been submitting its reports of misappropriation of public funds/money and the manner of irregularities in several departments but all these got stuck up with Public Account Committee (PAC) of Nagaland Legislative Assembly,” the release expressed.
