NWA announces Hornbill Naga Wrestling Championship 2018 wrestlers’ list

32 Naga professional wrestlers to vie for the coveted title

Kohima, November 28 (MExN): The Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) has announced the names of 32 professional wrestlers who will vie for the coveted title of the Hornbill Naga Wrestling Championship 2018.  

The 12th International Hornbill Naga Wrestling Championship 2018 under the aegis of NWA will be held on December 4, 9AM onwards at the Amphitheatre, Naga Heritage Village, Kisama. The championship is sponsored by the Department of Tourism, Government of Nagaland.  

The championship will be conducted in two categories - Professional and Amateur & Tourist Category.   Under Professional Category, the 3 NWA constituent units - Angami Sports Association (ASA), Chakhesang Wrestling Association (CWA), and Zeliang Wrestling Association (ZA) will each send 8 of their best wrestlers.  

NWA unit outside the state - Senapati District Wrestling Association (SDWA), Manipur will also sent equal number of wrestlers for competition in professional Category.  

A press statement issued by NWA General Secretary, Vekhozo informed that the championship shall be graced by Pele Khezhie, President, Nagaland Taekwondo Association & Convenor Northeast Taekwondo Association as the Special Guest.  

Meanwhile, under Amateur & Tourist Category, the NWA has extended open invitation to all wrestling enthusiasts within and outside the state for participation.  

Wrestlers from Maharashtra, Karnataka, Delhi and other neighbouring states are expected, it informed.  

The entry will be free and can be registered on spot on December 4. One can also contact any NWA officials at 9612111544 for registration.  

The best four wrestlers in the Professional Category will be awarded a sum of Rs 1,00,000, Rs 60,000, Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively while under Amateur & Tourist Category, the best 4 wrestlers will received a sum of Rs 30,000, Rs 20,000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively.
