NWA celebrates victory of Vekhonielii at Asian Belt Wrestling Championship

The Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) today accorded felicitation to Vekhonielii Curhah for winning Bronze medal at the United World Wrestling (UWW) Belt Wrestling Asian Championship 2023 at Jizzakh, Uzbekistan.

The championship was held during May 20 to 26.

Cürhah, who won Bronze under 56 kg category belt wrestling represented Indian contingent under All India Traditional Wrestling & Pankration Federation (AITWPF).

Congratulating Curhah at the felicitation programme held at Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA) complex in Kohima, Nagaland’s Youth Resources & Sports Advisor S Keoshu Yimkhiung, stressed on the need to value and give importance to sports.

“Don’t stop from here,” he told Curhah and encouraged her to struggle more to excel and bring good name to Nagaland and the sports department.

NWA President Dr Hiabe Zeliang said that Curhah became the first Naga lady wrestler to secure medal in the international level. He acknowledged Curhah for bringing laurel, fame and honour to Nagaland.

Ating Lam presented a special number. Earlier, Thiiyiesayi  Swiiro, evangelist Zion Mission Church Naga Bazar Kohima pronounced thanksgiving  prayer.

The programme was chaired by NWA general secretary Vilekho Bio.
