The Nagaland Wushu Association (NWA) has organised a two-day judges’ seminar and technical training programme from September 11 to 12 at Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA) office, Kohima.

This programme aimed at strengthening officiating standards and enhancing technical expertise in the state.

The training was conducted by NIS-certified coach Gabriel Khamo, who not only focused on officiating skills but also introduced participants to the basics of Wushu (Sanda), enabling them with the knowledge required to eventually establish their own academies in Nagaland.

17 trainees representing the districts of Noklak, Peren, Kohima, Phek, Dimapur, Mokokchung, and Mon attended the programme.

In his concluding remarks, Khamo encouraged the judges to be prepared for the upcoming Nagaland State Wushu Championship (Sanda event) scheduled for October 21–23, stressing that homegrown referees and technical officials are best suited to nurture the sport at the grassroot level.

He further urged the trainee coaches to put in their best efforts in training young talents when they return to their respective districts.

Expressing confidence in the outcome of the programme, he stated that the seminar would lead to improved refereeing standards and stronger technical foundations, making a positive impact on Wushu in Nagaland.

It may be mentioned that under the leadership of Kudecho Khamo, President of NWA and Advisor, CAWD & Taxes, the association has resolved to facilitate the establishment of Wushu academies in selected districts of Nagaland.

District associations or individuals interested will undergo proper verification before receiving support from1 the NWA to set up their academies.
