
Kohima, March 15 (MExN): Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) has deeply mourned the untimely demise of NWA former champion Vecühu of Porba Village under Phek district on March 14 at Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) after a brief illness.
NWA Technical Secretary, Hukhonieyi Soho in a condolence message said that Lt Vecühu who was presently serving as DB under Deputy Commissioner (DC) Office, Phek was crowned as the champion of the 4th NWA Meet in the year 1976 at the age of 27 years weighing 86 Kg. Lt. Vecühu was also the champion of 4th Chakhesang Wrestling Association (CWA) Meet in the same year.
Terming Lt. Vecühu as an honest and disciplined man, NWA expressed its disheartenment over the death, adding it was “a moment of dark for the NWA in particular and the entire Naga community specially the wrestling lovers.”
NWA while sharing pains and sorrows with the bereaved families also extended its gratitude to Vecühu for his immense contributions to NWA in the past years and also lauded his skilful participation in the NWA meet.
